weighing yourself: how often?

How often are you planning on weighing yourself?  Are you waiting the full 30 days?  I know I won't be able to wait that long, especially after seeing a such a horrendous number the last time I weighed in!  I am very anxious to see some change, and it keeps me motivated.  I am a weekly weigher myself; I will be weighing every Monday.  Would you all prefer that I don't post my weigh ins each week and wait for the final number, or would it be ok if I included it in my Monday posts?  I'm ok with it either way!

  1. I weighed myself yesteday and was saddened to find my number was up- like six pounds! So, I am trying to abstain until day 30, but I will probably cheat. I am impatient!

  2. doesn't bother me a bit, and I too am addicted to weighing myself for results. I'm gonna try and keep away from it like you are and only weigh myself once a week. Not sure if i'll wanna post it though! gotta wait for some results before I feel happy enough to do that probably, ha. ;)

  3. It doesn't bother me, etiher. I'd be a big fat liar if I said I won't step on the scale between now and the last day.

Does anyone know why you weigh MORE (like in Rae's case and ok, I'll admit it, mine too)?

  4. I hate weighing myself and I don't plan to do it until my 30 days is up.I know I would feel too discouraged if I didn't see a change or if my number went up. So, I'm going to be patient.

  5. Ha! I totally weighed myself yesterday morning. Down a pound. I don't think that's really indicative of anything. Weight probably fluctuates a few pounds up or down any given day. I'm not going to sweat it!

  6. I think you weigh more when you first work out because you start building muscle- so there is a lag time before the lost fat will show up on the scale. At least you can see the results on your body sooner than the scale.
There is supposed to be3500 calories in a pound of fat. So mathmatically, we should all lose at least 4 pounds of fat in 30 days @500 calories burned a day. Can't help but thinking it should be higher- usually healthy weight loss is 2 - 3 lbs a week, so hopefully we will all see results closer to that. That would be more close to 12 pounds in a month which would rock!

  7. 1 pound of fat is 3,500 calories, so theoretically we should lose 4 pounds of fat, but the amount lost also depends on the amount of calories taken in. There has to be a deficit created in order to lose the pounds! I believe I'll lose more than 4 pounds, because I've been careful with my calorie intake in order to create a large deficit. I'm sure we will all lose more than 4 pounds! :o)
