Potential (New) Game Plan Idea: Kelly

Okay Ladies. Tell me how you feel about this potential new game plan. Now, I know that we all have very busy lives and we don’t have all of the time in the world to spend focusing on ourselves every day. But, wouldn’t you agree that YOU deserve at least a little bit more attention & time devoted to self-improvement? The days fly by so quickly that it is essential to our health to STOP in our tracks right now, LOOK ourselves in the mirror, & decide TODAY that we are worth the extra 30 minutes to an hour of personal devotion it would take to be truly healthy individuals. The overall goal is to achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle throughout this year than any of us ever have before.

We have all started 2009 off in a very positive way. We have all been strong enough to get our butts off of the couch, into the gym, & have stuck to it. We have kept each other accountable & encouraged one another through this blog. Those are great goals that we’ve already accomplished & I hope we can all continue with the occasional workouts.

For the NEW plan, I would like to propose to you that “500 a day” would not be the ONLY way we improve our routines in 2009. I haven’t worked out all of the wrinkles yet, but here’s the idea. We all need to agree on 10 things that lead to a healthy & happy lifestyle. Then we dedicate 1 of the new goals to each of the remaining 10 months of 2009 to continue & expand the betterment of ourselves by working towards that month's goal. The key is to fully integrate the specific lifestyle change throughout that whole month, while still integrating the previously adopted lifestyle goals (like continued exercise & healthy eating, etc.). First, we need to agree on 10 things that we would be willing to integrate into our routines that would truly be beneficial to our health and happiness. These are just a few that I propose (feel free to add or request to change any of them you think need changing) :
January-December: Regular Exercise (Check...good job, ladies!)
March: Eat Well-Balanced Meals
April: Eliminate Addictions
May: Meditation
June: Maintain Good Hygiene (maintain finger & toe nails, whiten teeth, floss daily, pluck eyebrows, get your 'hair did', etc.)
July: Socialize with friends & family
August: Take Vacations
September: Get Adequate Rest & Sleep
October: Reduce Stress
November: Improve Your Financial Responsibility
December: Forgive Others (Like that crazy driver you almost flipped-off today, haha.)

Through these lifestyle changes, we can offer advice and encouragement to each other to stick to the program (sounds like the song 'Rehab' should be our theme song, haha, just kidding). Examples being recipes for good well-balanced meals, relaxation practices, financial tips to get your pocket book on track, favorite nail polish colors, making yourself get out of bed 8-9 hours after falling asleep (no more unhealthy noon mornings!), etc. So, do you think that this could be something we do, or is everyone just really ready to give up on blogging and trying to keep up with each other? Just think, if we did all of these things and got really good at working them into our routines, how lovely life would ALWAYS be & how much more likeable and less-stressed we would remain. Please, submit your inputs! I would like to have a plan together by the time March rolls around!

So, that's that.

  1. Oooh, I like it. I really do. My only question is how are we going to keep each accountable for the actual exercising? I think it's a GREAT IDEA to integrate these other things into our lives. What an amazing book this could be.

But what about the work outs?

  2. On a side note, is it too late for me to join the web site? I don't have a Polar watch yet so I can't quite accurately track the 500 calories, but it's been two months and it's time to lose this baby weight, and I think this web site could keep me in check to at least make an effort to work out every day and try to get back to where I used to be. (We just bought an elliptical, and it is LAUGHABLE how out of shape giving birth made me.) As soon as I have a bit more stamina, and that watch, I'll really track the 500 calories.

  3. We'd still keep the workout posts going like they have been for those interested in continuing their posts. I'll still be keeping up the workouts while adopting the new goals. That means we will have a lot of different kinds of posts regarding the new goals in combination with our usual workout posts. LOTS OF POSTING going on! haha. it should be fun.

And definitely feel free to join in Sara! We'd love to have you! :)
